about

{ World Premiere }

"Celestial Fire" was performed at the American Creators Ensemble Concert Series III on July 6th, 2018, in the Aasen-Hull Hall.

This work explores the low registers of an atypical ensemble with a driving theme and punctuated pizzicati in the cello, dissolving into calm melodies in the French horn. A return to the quick theme transitions into a fast-as-possible 5+2 feel, finishing into final moments of melodic serenity.

Michael Autry is a fellow University of Houston graduate and current University of Oregon student pursuing his master's degree. I am delighted to have performed five of his works, and this marks the fourth premiere of his that I've been a part of.

The ensemble includes former and current UO students, and Sound of Late member, Rebecca Ólason.
